Starting life in 1887 in Tokyo as a cotton trading company and expanding to making and trading silk, Kanebo launched its cosmetics range in 1936 with a silk-based soap product (Savon de Soie). Using its technological and research and development expertise to create unique beauty products it underwent a rapid transformation in the 1960’s becoming one of Japan’s leading cosmetics brands.
