About Dermalogica
Dermalogica is one of the newest cosmetics companies with their product line only being launched in 1996 and focusing exclusively on skin care. Their unique position in the market is driven by their vision of having no skin irritants in their products and so do not use any artificial colours, synthetic fragrances, S.D. alcohol, lanolin or mineral oil. The company was founded by the International Dermal Institute, the postgraduate training organization for skin care professionals and has a strong emphasis on straightforward skin care education and result-driven products without making exaggerated claims or using hype the industry can sometimes be prone to. This commitment to professional, scientifically-based skin care is demonstrated with its use of no-nonsense recyclable packaging, ingredients from eco-safe sources and policy of not using animal testing.

 
The company does not use standard marketing, advertising or retail channels preferring to gain awareness through word of mouth from satisfied customers. This holistic approach is articulated by their philosophy that, "Skin care is not pampering, any more than dental care or a shampoo is pampering. It is a basic part of grooming, self-care and basic hygiene." The Dermalogica product range is kept deliberately small with an emphasis on only the most innovative and effective formulations using the highest quality ingredients available such as essential oils and herbal extracts. All formulas used are non-comedongenic (black head forming) and contain no pore-clogging materials. The main product categories are cleansers, conditioners, moisturisers, masques, boosters, treatment foundation, solar defence systems, daily groomers and skin kits.
