The genesis of La Mer emerged from the discovery that sea silt has a significant beneficial effect on skin regeneration. That premise is the basis for todays acclaimed range of La Mer skincare products. Sea silt is a sediment found in calm parts of the sea shore and is found along the North Sea coast. It is rich in oxygen, sea salt, therapeutic clay, trace elements, sulphur and a mixture of organic components. Paul Gojny – the founder of La Mer – developed the intricate process needed to distil the beneficial extract from natural sea silt. All La Mer products include sea silt extract as the main ingredient blended with other natural marine components and rich nourishing moisturisers.
